Detailing & Design / BIM

Using bespoke 3D modelling software (Tekla & StruCad), our highly experienced inhouse design & detailing team generate accurate models of all steel members and connections – while working closely in conjunction with all disciplines. With over 40 years of experience in detailing steel allows us to bring real work knowledge on all projects. Coupling this knowledge base with our professional team, we offer a streamlined & accelerated process.

While BIM (Building Information Modeling) is often seen as a relatively new development, we have been modelling our structures with 3D software for decades. We have detailed many projects within a BIM environment (to LOD500) – and are experts are working within a project using a Common Data Environment and to a BIM execution plan.

State-of-the-art Manufacturing Facility

Steel Manufacture

From our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ballybay, Co Monaghan, Leonard Engineering (Ballybay) Ltd offers a complete in-house steel fabrication process. Our highly skilled workforce work alongside the latest in steel processing equipment CNC Saw, Drill, Cope & plate processing lines.

Our large fabrication & welding shops can facilitate the manufacture of standard and bespoke assemblies – previous work includes 89m single span trusses with up to 30 tonnes single lifts.

As all steel members are unique, our innovative processes ensure every item is fabricated to the highest quality standards with detailed inspections & traceability at all stages.

All steelwork is shot blasted to SA2.5 post manufacture

Intumescent/Protective Coating

All steelwork is shot blasted to SA2.5 post manufacture. The ability to shotblast steel after the welding process allows for a unparallel finish of the entire steel member – this is possible due to our custom 8 wheel blaster.

In our large painting facility, we can apply all required paint products including fire protection intumescent systems ranging from 30 to 120-minute rating. Along with our dedicated & highly trained team, our rigorous quality system tracks DFT/humidity/temp etc. to ensure the highest quality product & finish. Galvanising can also provide as required.

Streamlined onsite install

Installation

Leonard Engineering (Ballybay) Ltd have skilled teams of install crews working under our experienced contract and site managers, to ensure a streamlined onsite install. Our proactive approach of creatively working with our clients allows to achieve a safe & efficient working environment – on all aspects of install we bring a safety first approach.

For many of our blue-chip clients, programme is key and as such the steel frame is a crucial element. We have built a solid reputation of setting ambitious deadlines and achieving these on every project.
